Hey there, mama!
How’s that blog of yours coming along?
Lots to do, right?
All of those 'Start a Blog in 15 Minutes' don't really tell the whole story.
So other than spend your kids' college fund on more courses you probably won't finish - who actually has the time - what are you to do?
Well, you could hire a blog coach.
A blog coach can help you develop a strategy, set manageable step action steps, and listen to your blog hang-ups.
If that sounds like something you need too, quick, read on! Because I've managed to persuade Chelsea Clarke, the blog coach genius behind Her Paper Route to talk to me about being, hiring, and working with a blog coach.
Let's dive in!!
Blog Coach Interview - Chelsea Clarke
I'd love to know why you decided to offer coaching as a service? Isn’t it all about passive income these days?
Thanks for having me, Lois!
Originally when I set out to make my living as a blog-at-home-mom, it was never the plan to offer blog coaching services. I had just had a baby and was determined to not return to the workforce after my maternity leave ended, so was working away and making my blogs turn a profit, and passive income was the goal!
Before the baby, I had been working as an in-house marketing strategist for corporations and brokerages for 15 years. In that role, I created digital products, launched monetization and marketing campaigns for big companies, which was making them millions, all while I was working for a pitiful hourly wage with no benefits.
I had a good amount of experience in the digital marketing realm, but there was no way I was going to go back and work for someone else again!
I monetized my own websites, a beauty blog and a tech blog, and started offering free blogging, business and marketing tips from HerPaperRoute.com.
Within the first quarter, I was earning few thousand dollars each month in affiliate income, and I was sharing my progress with my readers along the way, via free guides and free courses.
I was able to develop my own blogs to the point that they were making more money than I had been making in the workforce, and this really struck a chord with people! I kept getting emails from new bloggers and moms asking if I could mentor them, and I was happy to oblige.
Pretty soon my blogging business expanded to offer blog mentorship, which nowadays keeps me very busy!
OK, so, tell us about the coaching services you offer?
I help bloggers and online entrepreneurs develop blogs into a profitable business! We explore the various ways a blog and a blogger’s business can be monetized, and I help you discover ways to develop products and services you can generate income with, depending on where your interests lie.
I train in affiliate marketing and influencer marketing, setting you and your blog up with multiple streams of revenue in the process. This can consist of developing your blog posts and lead magnets to attract customers and sales, creating and launching products like ebooks and courses. We even cover how to position yourself as an authority-influencer in your niche, so you can monetize your Instagram and work with brands for paid product reviews and sponsorships.
Why should someone hire a blog coach? What’s in it for them?
No matter what stage you are at in your business, there is a coach out there who can help you get to the next step.
Especially when it comes to blogging, when you are trying to develop your blog into a business.
There really is so much information to learn, and so many common ‘mistakes’ you can run in to that can cost you time and money when you go at it all on your own. Having a blog coach who keeps you on track and teaches you all of the important steps, while being there to answer all of the questions along the way is vital.
When should someone hire a blog coach? As a beginner? Do they have to wait until they’ve found success?
I think the best time to hire a coach is when you are feeling that it’s time to make a change.
If you are doing the same old thing in your business and seeing no change, its time to invite someone in to give you a new perspective and direction.
OK, so what should bloggers look for in a coach?
It’s important that the person you choose to work with has real-life experience in the realm that you want to take your business/self in.
Who do you see doing what you’d like to do? Send an email to them, strike up a conversation, see if you ‘click.’ Accolades are important too, but coaching from mentor with real-life success at the thing that you want to succeed at is crucial.
I have over a decade experience in the form of my career as a marketing strategist and as well as a University degree - but the most important thing - and the thing that makes me a good candidate to help bloggers, is that I am currently living and making a living as a blogger right now too. I’m here in the trenches with you, girl!
How can we make the most of coaching?
Listening to what a client is stuck on or struggling with, and being present to offer a way, no, offering multiple ways, for them get unstuck is key. What works for one person might now work for another, so being able to discover several different options to resolve a problem in someone’s business is really important to me.
What ONE thing do you like potential clients to know about you?
It’s that if you are a mom who is struggling to find a way to make money from home, know that I get it.
I’ve been there too and I am excited to help you make this blogging thing of yours work out!
